About This Project

Private Residence Darien, CT David Verespy, ASLA, and Rock Spring Design Group LLC is proud to showcase the transformation of a private residence in Darien, CT. The landscape is a beautiful representation of our design quality, creativity, and love for nature - a custom designed outdoor oasis that nestles into the surrounding beauty of its context. The hardscape materials were carefully selected, including a stone patio made from locally sourced bluestone that anchors the outdoor living area. This welcoming space naturally draws guests on lazy summer evenings while being a cozy gathering space on winter afternoons with family. Retaining walls, made from natural granite, added visual appeal while helping with drainage around the property, another design element we are very proud of. The private residence was located on a slope that presented challenges in water management and stability. Working with the slope, our design team made additonal terraced flower beds that brought the landscape to life with a selection of native plants, perennials varieties and ornamental grasses offering the color and texture that would draw anyone out into the garden year round. The use of sustainable materials re-enforced the commitment to sustaining the landscape in a manner with the least impact on the surrounding ecosystem. An important design element was a water feature that includes a waterfall. The calming sound of water flowing with a backdrop of planting adds to the tranquility of the bathroom while providing habitat for local wildlife to connect with nature. The outcome of the is one of the most beautiful residential landscapes I have seen which complements architecture of the home and the natural landscape of Darien. For the veracity to the design as well as the attention to detail, my clients were more than happy with the final result.
