Hite + Partners celebrates the 'Multi-Family Work' , which was a landscaping recently finalized in the beautiful town of Longwood. The most interesting part this is its re-interpretation of all the shared spaces in a multi-family residential complex which has combined beauty and function. Also, we incorporated lush native plantings that are appropriate for the climate of the area, requiring low maintenance and are sustainable in nature. We specified lasting materials like permeable pavers for the walkways, which improve drainage in addition to creating a welcoming experience. They planted shrubs that burst into color through the seasons and various ornamental grasses, which also provides local pollinators and balance the ecosystem. The site posed some challenges with its more-than-usual slope and we had to get creative with where to find reasonably level areas for people to walk up to or gather in. We successfully tackled these challenges, so the landscape was attractive and functional. The end result was an inviting community space with seating areas, fire pits and a children’s play area that encourages residents to socialize with one another. This majestic outcome, always exceeding the client expectation, changed the previously unutilized space into a lively outdoor retreat. Dix.
