Courtyard Garden by Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group Located in Montclair, the 'Courtyard Garden' showcases the quality work and creative design philosophy that Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group is known for. Serving the thriving towns of Guttenberg, North Bergen, Nutley, Union City, Weehawken, West New York, Hoboken, and Jersey City, we were brought on to redesign a compact urban area into a calm, usable outdoor retreat. The interconnects plentiful plantings with thoughtful hardscaping. Local stone pathways, seating areas, and lounge spots were created to facilitate relaxation amongst the plantings. Key to the landscaping is the selection of native plants, which are consistently selected for their hardiness, functionality, and beauty throughout the seasons. The flower beds contain hardy native perennials and ornamental grasses. This design emphasized aesthetic appeal while also increasing biodiversity in the area. Fortunately, the client’s courtyard did not have adequate drainage and standing water created a drainage concern. Our team designed and implemented subsurface drainage to keep the courtyard dry and maintain accessibility from the major landscape features even after heavy rain. Likewise, raised garden beds were designed and built to increase height and interest in the space while creating a favorable environment for improving and containing soil and drainage. In sum, the client now has a beautiful space that is both tranquil and functional. The water features serve as the focal point and provide a soothing splash of sound. The client is thrilled with his new oasis for guests or just to unwind after the day's work. This truly defined the Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group experience and is an excellent example of quality design build additions to our portfolio.
