Profile: Weehawken Hideaway Designed and built by Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group, we are proud to highlight one of our signature landscape s, “Weehawken Hideaway.” Located in the center of Weehawken, this stunning outdoor living area was creatively crafted to give the homeowners a feeling of escape while blending into the local surroundings. The included a multi-tiered garden that was carefully configured to include a colorful selection of native plantings that have something in bloom and provide habitats for local pollinators during all seasons. Our team worked with beautiful, sustainable materials to create a unique stone path through the plantings that encourages the guest to discover a new perspective of the garden around every turn. The goal of working with permeable pavers was to not only create a beautiful path but to minimize possible drainage issues occurring due to the extreme amount of rainwater the area is known to experience. The created walkways would also serve as a long-term function of the landscaping to keep the landscape healthy. One of the major concerns during the installation was the steep slope of the property and the need to terrace the areas to create flat, usable space. In this area, our team solved this concern through design and engineering, creating retaining walls out of natural stone which created usable space and were harmonious with their surroundings. Our favorite feature of the Weehawken Hideaway is the incredible water feature that serves as a tranquil pond that acts as a mirror to its surroundings. This water feature is both a focal point of the landscape and creates a sound of breeze and flow that adds to the relaxing nature of the outdoor retreat. After we completed the landscape installation, the clients expressed how happy they were with their outdoor space that has utility and a beautiful aesthetic.
