NATURAL WONDERS LANDSCAPING - Removal of Concrete Slab With landscaping design & installation Natural Wonders Landscaping received the opportunity, in the middle of Houston, to remove a large outdated concrete slab that had long taken away from the beauty and functionality of the clients outdoor space. We served clients from all over Aldine, Alief, Barker, Baytown, and probably a few other places in between, too and we approached this with sustainability and quality in mind. Excavation was complicated by a less-than-simple existing slab that included high points, vegetation with roots growing into the slab, and a few other surprises. Using a jackhammer and high-powered concrete saws the slab was safely demolished, and the landscape was minimally disturbed by our skilled crew. It was this careful process that allowed us to harvest the land of precious soil material in preparation for its regeneration. After removing the concrete, we filled the land with organic compost, allowing for healthier growth of plants and better soil structure. With a goal of creating a colourful garden space, we chose a delightful collection of native vegetation, ornamental grasses, and perennials flowering in-season, which are climate appropriate to a sustainable and low-maintenance garden. We also added paths of decorative gravel through the new garden spaces so guests can travel the garden looking at spaces and together. The end result was nothing short of amazing! The once stony area morphed into a beautiful, green garden that improved the property's exterior many times but also served as a calm getaway for the homeowners. The client was overjoyed, immediately planning family gatherings with their rejuvenated backyard outdoor space.
