In the beginning, we were dealing with a large sloping backyard that offered little opportunity for entertaining or relaxing outdoors. We proposed a multi-tiered landscape solution that optimises the useable area but works with the local topography to integrate within the site. Using durable and beautiful bluestone pavers, we created a gorgeous patio that is the centerpiece of the outdoor space. Bluestone is a popular choice because the texture and the dense colors enhance the edifying nuance of the surrounding textures. Besides the patio, we added a custom fire pit surrounded by natural stone seating perfect for family gatherings and evening entertainment. Our landscaping team also designed a series of native plant gardens that flourish in this climate, all of which add to the biodiversity of the area while requiring little upkeep. There are perennials and ornamental grasses in these garden, but just enough color is sprinkled through for interest at all times of the year. With the grade of the lot being sloped, the first step to solving their drainage issues was for our experts to create a grading plan that redirected the water off the lot and away from the house to prevent erosion of the slope and protecting their foundation. This didn→s attention to detail made the landscape more functional, but also helped ensure that the installation was something that would last. The end product of the ‘Bluestone Contemporary’ is a magnificent modern outdoor environment that manages to blend natural beauty and modernism seamlessly. So, we wanted to deliver an experience for clients where they are overjoyed with the landscape after the transformation; while the landscape meets their needs it also adds to their overall life and elevates the vibrancy of their experience.
