Craftsman Small-Space Gardening by Avant Gardening & Landscaping Inc. Avant Gardening & Landscaping Inc. is proud to present the 'Craftsman Small-Space Gardening' a beautiful representation of our craftsmanship and creativeness. This gem of a , right in the center of Madison, was custom fit to a small urban yard, and thus needed to be not only visually appealing, but also efficient, and fully functional. The challenge was to optimize the best use of a small space while satisfying the client's request for a Craftsman style. We carefully chose a mix of native herbaceous perennials and shrubs that are well-adapted to the local conditions and that also provide benefits to biodiversity. Natural stone pathways made with locally sourced bluestones to create depth and texture lead to a small seating area defined by rustic cedar garden boxes filled with seasonal herbs and blooms. Every inch was maximized with innovative vertical gardening techniques. Climbing vines formed a solid green backdrop behind vertical trellises; decorative fencing provided privacy without blocking light. We employed green practices and our drip irrigation systems enabled the efficient use of water with minimal maintenance requirements. The end result is a peaceful retreat that embodies the character of Craftsman design attributes while functioning beautifully to the needs of the client’s lifestyle. The contrast of green and natural material makes an environment that is where relaxation is felt and pleasure is taken. The happy client commented, "Avant Gardening & Landscaping Inc. hit a home run around the world finally, functionality alongside beauty! While we completed this small-space gardening in Madison, Wisconsin demonstrating the best of our landscape design while having taken the time to enhance our outdoor living practices for our neighbors as close as Cottage Grove, Deerfield, Fitchburg, Maple Bluff, McFarland, Monona, Oregon, Shorewood Hills, Stoughton, and Sun Prairie.
