Retaining Walls by Ralph Williams Landscape Design At Ralph Williams Landscape Design, we specialize in transforming outdoor areas into beautiful landscapes that add functional use and beauty. Our recent entitled "Retaining Walls" is an example of our focus on quality and creativity, and is being completed for clients in the scenic towns of Acton, Ayer, Berlin, and beyond. This included installation of complimentary designed retaining walls that dealt with issues related to slope, but also contributed a rich aesthetic to the landscape. The walls were built using premium materials such as natural stone and interlocking concrete blocks, and the skilled men and women at Ralph Williams put together the walls to seamlessly fit with the landscape around it, while providing necessary support to prevent soil erosion. One of the significant challenges we faced was the steep slope of the property requiring the engineering necessary to stabilize the walls, and longevity of the walls. To address the slope and terrain, our team installed high end drainage solutions, utilizing weep holes and gravel backfill to accomplish a groundwater management plan as a solution. These solutions kept the retaining walls intact for years to come, and improved the drainage of the overall landscape. The finished product was a beautiful set of curving walls on the property line that created dimensions and levels, defining spaces and creating planting beds and grounds for entertaining. All parties regarded this as a positive change, and the external aesthetics and usability of the garden was greatly celebrated. The areas that were now defined supported thriving plants and flowers and was well regarded as a lively and energizing place to spend time outdoors!
