Type: Oak Ridge: Clean Up & Re-landscape Abandoned Base The "Oak Ridge: Cleanup & Re-landscape Neglected Foundation" was completed by New Garden Landscaping & Nursery and we are proud of the work to restore outdoor spaces across the Triad, serving Browns Summit, Colfax, Greensboro, High Point, Jamestown, Oak Ridge, Summerfield and Winston-Salem. The very first step in this was to do a thorough cleanup of the now overgrown foundation area, which had been without attention for many years. We carefully cleared away the invasive plants, debris and old landscaping, so our team could evaluate the health of the soil beneath and drainage issues that contributed to the problem. After taking care of these problems, we put in a well-draining soil mixture to help our new vegetation flourish. We incorporated various drought-resistant and appropriate native plants that function well within the climates in that area and that specifically optimize the aesthetic and make a larger space. The use of colourful perennials, ornamental grasses, and hardy shrubs that will uncomplainingly go their business of looking good throughout the year while helping to sustain local biodiversity. To contrast more with the plant smothers, we installed natural stone edging and decorative gravel pathways to further define the planting beds and allow easy maintenance access. Sustainable materials and eco-friendly practices were at the forefront of our landscape design approach to ensure that the landscape would thrive with a minimum environmental footprint. A major obstacle was the hilly ground surrounding the foundation, which we worked around by building tiered planting beds that alleviated drainage issues while adding depth and movement to the landscape. The end product was the wow transformation we hoped for and our customer loved: a bright, low maintenance garden that complemented their house yet still offered an opportunity to get outside.
