Outdoor Kitchens by Southern Landscape Design At Southern Landscape Design, we hold the view that the heart of every home extends beyond its walls. Our most recent , "Outdoor Kitchens," demonstrates this viewpoint. We serve the vibrant Charlotte, North Carolina metropolitan area, and turned an expansive backyard into a beautiful outdoor cooking oasis that incorporates both function and style. This included a custom outdoor kitchen equipped with high-end appliances (stainless steel grill, dual burner cooktop, and large granite countertop for food prep) all surrounded by a rustic stone veneer that blends beautifully with the natural surroundings while also providing durability against all elements. Additionally, we added a cozy dining area with custom cedar pergolas, which not only provides shade but also enhances the outdoor dining experience. One of our biggest challenges with this was seamlessly integrating the outdoor kitchen into the existing landscape while also addressing drainage issues. As our team worked through the design, we ultimately developed a drainage solution that not only helped resolve drainage issues but also created enhanced functionality for the overall space. We incorporated permeable pavers for the patio, which allowed any rainwater to filter through and kept the portion of the landscape intact. In addition to the kitchen and dining area, we also included beautiful greenery, such as ornamental grasses and flowering plants, to serve as a seasonal backdrop that offers vibrant color and movement. Importantly, outdoor lighting supplemented the family enjoying their kitchen into the night, providing beauty and functionality. The final product is a beautiful outdoor kitchen for the family that provides an opportunity for social gathering and culinary exploration. Our clients were ecstatic the space, as it reflects their personal lifestyle and adds significant value to their home.
