West Seattle Hardscapes Olympic Rockeries Located in the heart of West Seattle, the West Seattle Hardscapes radiates the same art & craftsmanship we devote to each and every landscaping from Olympic Rockeries. Innovative design and practical function to transform a typical backyard to an outdoor oasis. Our team was tasked with working on a yard that sloped very steeply, making it a yard that was not fully functional or usable. In order to combat this we installed a succession of tiered natural stone retaining walls that not only beautified the site but made for useful planting and sitting terraces. The walls were finished with an in-house designed patio, featuring pavers that will last a long time and blend in with nature, providing a great patio for entertaining. We chose beautiful materials including basalt and sandstone, much of which was sourced locally, to stand the test of time whilst respecting the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Careful placement of these materials created a series of patterns which both attracted the eye and provided texture in the landscape. By using native plants in the design, we ensured low landscape maintenance. They layered colorful plantings of ferns and flowering shrubs to ensure interest throughout the year, and a gravel path to present the garden in different perspectives. The end result was a stunning landscape that not only met but exceeded the client website design expectations. They also balanced functional hardscapes and plenty of grass, making the space ideal for hosting and solitude alike. The delighted clients have now a stunning, sustainable outdoor space that compliments their home and lifestyle.
