We are proud of our recent work across the metropolitan Chicago area built on a foundation of quality craftsmanship and sustainable practices, including in suburban cities such as Deerfield, Northbrook and Highland Park. A notable was a total landscape renovation to a family dwelling in Glencoe. After searching for existing backyard ideas, we found one that suited us but was located in a very flat area which ours is certainly not, we are on our third few slops down from the sloped yard challenge. Using stone from local quarries and native plants to create natural terraces, we multi-tiered this property to make the garden usable. So not only did this add a pretty layer, it also helped with drainage and less erosion for a longer term sustainability. We invested in materials like handcrafted stone walls, reclaimed wood for garden borders, and permeable pavers for pathways that were selected to complement the surrounding nature easily. Working with the homeowners, our landscape architects chose plants that provide habitat spawning as well as food sources for other living animals while being especially unique to the local climate. The creative process culminated in a scheme of colorful perennials, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs between the buildings that evolved into a unique fusion of avid landscape art through the seasons. This was on schedule and on budget, as did end with a wonderful outdoor oasis that our clients were thrilled with. Now they have a space that is equal parts beautiful and functional, where they can entertain, garden and relax, all while having the peace of mind that they have made a sustainable landscape choice.
