About This Project

Historic Evanston Retreat Indoors or outside, just every single part of this stunning Evanston landscaping venture by Greenwise Natural Lawn Care and Landscape Design converted a big old property into a tranquil getaway that matches seamlessly into the setting. Working with established trees and historic architecture we accepted the challenge to enrich the historic character of the landscape. Using an assortment of native plants, organic soil amendments, and sustainable materials we designed a holistic environment that enhances the property while providing habitat for local biodiversity. The centered around the installation of a beautiful bluestone path sourced from a local quarry, winding through garden beds of perennials, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs planted in a naturalized arrangement. This path encourages promenade and allows for carving movement and seamless flow in the landscape. The design needed to not only preserve the historical integrity of the house but also be sensitive to how a modern outdoor living space would integrate with such a historic house. We resorted to creating a large, paved patio out of reclaimed bricks similar to the original home’s and including custom adjacent seating in sustainable hardwoods. Add a timber pergola with climbing vines where you could hold gatherings or just have time to reflect in your garden. To add a final layer of mood, we fitted the property with low-voltage LED lighting that lights the pathway and key landscape features, allowing for retreat enjoyment after the sun sets. Drawing upon their extensive knowledge, the Historic Evanston Retreat is a reflection of the quality workmanship and environmentally-conscious stewardship for which Greenwise is so well-known. Our pleased customer is now able to experience the time-worn tales of the land, woven through a glimpse of a landscape beautiful and sustainable in nature.
