About This Project

Overview: Old Stone Crossing At Donnellan & Sons Landscaping, we exhibit our passion for creating beautiful outdoor environments that exist with the site and surrounding area. Our latest Old Stone Crossing, in the lovely neighborhoods of West Hartford, Connecticut, serves as our case-in-point. When the began, the client expressed the desire to create a peaceful retreat that fit harmoniously into the existing landforms. The stone pathway is the heart of this , made entirely from locally acquired hand-selected bluestone. Each hand-selected piece displayed an individual character, combining to create a visually striking and durable pathway inviting people experience. In addition to the stone pathway, we created several garden beds that are composed of native perennials and flowers to populate natural beauty of the site. By utilizing native perennials, we increased the sustainability of the and created habitat for other forms of life. We also built custom natural stone seat walls to provide opportunities for people to gather and experience the tranquility of the surroundings. The biggest challenge of this was the site’s grade, which caused concern for erosion and drainage. Our installers arrived to the challenge, devising an creative terracing system that not only resolved the grading and drainage issue but also added incredible visual interest to the landscape. The exceeded our client’s expectations, and truly established a tranquil outdoor experience. The mercotypical pathway is visually striking by design, and the vibrant plant selection along with seating led to an inviting outdoor space while each element displays the detail and quality for which we strive as a company. Notably, our clients stated they received several compliments from neighbors and passersby alike. At Donnellan & Sons Landscaping, we believe that an ordinary outdoor environment can be transformed into something exceptionally beautiful.
