The client was looking to upgrade to an outdoor living space that was functional enough for family gatherings, yet beautiful for quiet evenings. The first step in this major was assessing the existing patio. It was underutilized, tired, and not functional for the client's needs. The scope of work included addressing minimal drainage and uneven surfaces with decades of soil erosion. To ensure long-lasting durability and proper functionality, we used permeable pavers that are made of a strong natural stone; which improved drainage and created a patio structure that is capable of withstanding time and even improved the verdant landscape surrounding the patio. After upgrading the drainage and surface, we developed a layout that utilized the space given with separate dining and intimate seating areas. Utilizing custom site stone benching for built-in seating achieved a natural flow from the new patio to the lush, surrounding garden. Finally, low-voltage lighting enhanced the appeal of the patio space and made for an inviting evening environment.
