Outdoor Art by Michael Pullen Design, LLC Situated in the city of Norman, Oklahoma, our 'Outdoor Art' is an example of the transformative power of creative landscaping. The team at Michael Pullen Design, LLC was given the charge to design an outdoor space that fuses nature with art. This includes a beautiful variety of native plantings, which are all native to Oklahoma and were selected for their low maintenance and sustainable qualities, so the landscaping will thrive throughout the seasons. A central focal point of the design is a custom stone water feature, which was made with flagstone that was sourced locally. This water feature adds a serene backdrop of sounds and is also a water source for the local wildlife. The site presented challenges due to the varied topography on the property. The team created a tiered design by using reclaimed timber to create retaining walls that not only added to the design but also provided functionality. Retaining walls allowed for necessary drainage, while adding sightlines to subsequently interest and create height throughout the garden. In addition to ornamental grasses, perennials, and evergreen shrubs, the color palette is designed to keep color and interest throughout the entire year. Natural stone pavers are used to create paths that lead guests through this outdoor space. In unfortunate good nature, the end result is a beautiful space that exceeds all expectations of the client and combines art with nature. The 'Outdoor Art' is a beautiful example of how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can create a personal space that is beautiful and sustainable (aka drought tolerant).
