Gerald and Brad Residence By: Michael Pullen Design, LLC Located in the center of Norman, Oklahoma, the Gerald and Brad residence is an example of great design and built work. We were asked to redesign the back yard as a peaceful outdoor living area, and Michael Pullen Design, LLC developed a landscape that would be immersive and functional. The design included a wide variety of native plants chosen for their durability and low input requirements to ensure a sustainable outdoor environment for the Oklahoma climate. Stone pathways of locally sourced limestone drew visitors into engaging gardens and acted as pathways to guide guests through a vibrant, living, gallery of color and texture. A flowing water feature with a bubbling fountain was added to the overall sound experience inside the backyard for a calming effect. One of the obstacles to overcome was the undulating topography of the property. Our landscape design builds upon which we found tracks of water drainage problems, and no doubt a disturbance to our homeowners, and included a tiered planting beds to create additional visual interest, highlights, and the additional perk of a solution that made working at maximum capacity not a consideration anymore. To further ensure the plantings were managing well during the hot Oklahoma summer months, we installed a good quality irrigation system that allowed for the lush green to persist throughout the summers; ensuring quality of work built to last. The end result finished exceeded our expectations, or the needs of our homeowners to turn an uninspired backyard into an oasis of outdoor living enjoyed throughout the entire season. The plan engaged both hardscape and softscape uses well while design incorporated functional spaces for both entertaining and serene escape from lively gatherings of colleagues and family. Our clients expressed excitement on the outcome of the and expressed satisfaction on a few added values, once the design was incorporated, as it enhanced their homes curb appeal for family and friends, and process like gathering for gatherings.
