About This Project

Ironworks by RF Designs Located in rural eastern Ontario, the 'Ironworks' showcases some of the artistry and skill RF Designs is known for. After discussing the desired vision for the with the client, it was clear that creating a landscape that was modern while also being inviting was a priority for them. The primary focus of 'Ironworks' is a beautiful collection of hardscaping features, consisting of solitary and patterned stone paths that lead guests through the abundant gardens. We selected local and quality natural stone products that would both last long in this beautiful landscape while having the desired aesthetic qualities to blend into the existing landscape. One of the challenges associated with this was that the site sloped off in a couple of areas, so we incorporated tiered garden beds that added visual appeal while dealing with the challenge of drainage and soil aeration. Of course, no landscape would truly feel finished without a beautiful selection of Ontario natives to really highlight the hardscape features. While selecting from a number of past native plant commissions, we settled on a mixed treatment of ornamental grasses, perennial flowers and functional evergreens, all chosen with an eye for seasonality. We also incorporated fixtures for nighttime, where it was appropriate, to illuminate paths and specific features of interest in the evenings. Throughout the , RF Designs in extreme detail, strived to ensure that sustainable practices were taken into account. Examples of strain on actively seeking permeable paving materials that would manage excessive storm water without causing additional runoff. The end result created a stunning landscape that not only dramatically improves the curb appeal of this property, but also provides a private escape for the family in their new 'sanctuary' of opulence and utility. The 'Ironworks' clearly demonstrates RF Designs will always pursue quality, creativity, and customer satisfaction at each step, and that was exactly what their client experienced with the creation of this new outdoor oasis.
