About This Project

Waterfront Virginia Beach Home At Dr. Dan's Landscaping & Architectural Design, we recently finished a beautiful landscaping for an incredible waterfront home in Virginia Beach. This was able to turn the outdoor space into a calm coastal oasis that integrated well with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The included a custom-designed hardscape that consisted of natural stone paths, a cozy fire pit area, and an elegant patio, which were built with local materials to match the architecture of the home. The site had its challenges with uneven terrain, which led to the social decision of tiered landscaping solutions to ensure proper drainage and maximize aesthetics. It was important that we chose plants that could thrive in the coastal environment of Virginia, so we selected native plants to help with sustainability. For example, we planted lush ornamental grasses and brightly colored flowering perennials, with evergreens placed where they could add structure for all seasons and attract local wildlife. One of the more standout features of the design was the waterfront garden, which included a peaceful water feature to reflect the bay nearby, providing a beautiful result to settle in during relaxation or entertaining. We also made sure to incorporate irrigation that was eco-friendly in design to ensure the sustainability of the garden. Additionally, we worked with the home owners to add a tasteful use of lighting, for safety, but also to create a beautiful atmosphere after sunset. The finished result made the clients ecstatic delivering a beautiful functional outdoor space that was perfect for family gatherings, quiet nights with loved ones, and viewing the beautiful views Virginia Beach has to offer.
