Hoboken Modern 'Hoboken Modern,' a executed by Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group, showcases a contemporary approach to urban landscaping that balances aesthetics with function. Located in a residential/urban environment in the middle of Hoboken, this aimed to maximize a tight outdoor space with a calm retreat for the homeowners. The includes a unique balance of native plantings and modern hardscaping components. Drought-tolerant plants, such as ornamental grasses and colorful perennials, were specifically selected for their resilience, low maintenance, and continued vibrancy in changing seasons. Locally-sourced bluestone pavers are visually attractive as well as durable and sustainable. One of the major hurdles experienced during the was the tight space and accommodating an effective drainage design. Hufnagel’s team successfully incorporated a French drain system underneath the sleek pathways in order to ensure that heavy rains would not disrupt the integrity of the overall landscape. Furthermore, the site plan was carefully thought out to allow for flow and accessibility between the patio area and the lush garden. The end result is an extraordinary space that incorporates a modern fire pit with custom seating that encourages entertaining guests. The soothing sound of the elegant water feature relaxes the area, promoting a comforting sense of luxury. The balance of textures, through the clean paved stone pathways and soft foliage, bring a sensory experience to the design. It is safe to say the homeowners were extremely pleased with the new landscape and expressed appreciation to Hufnagel Landscape Design & Construction Group for an absolutely wonderful . Hoboken Modern was more than a landscape, it was an affirmation of quality workmanship and thoughtful design while demonstrating the beauty and comfort of urban living - all with a little escape from the city they call home.
