About This Project

David Font Design's Subtle Outdoor Transformation Boca Raton based architectural design practice David Font Design, together with architectural photographer Alan A. Ainsworth, revealed that their 'Understated Outdoor Makeover' took a former underused backyard and turned it into a quiet oasis attuned to the area's culture and climate. This extensive landscaping is all accentuating the natural landscape of the area together with simple but sophisticated looking designs. The process started with a deep listening session to grasp exactly what the client wanted. Drought-resistant plants, including some native Florida flora, were strategically chosen to result in both greenery and sustainability. The stone pathway provided striking access through a mixture of ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs. The genius French drain that our team built and installed ensures that whenever we experience those lush heavy rain patterns we are not disturbed by drainage issues! Taking aesthetic to the next level were the use of natural stones and reclaimed wood for borders and edging which still adhered to our sustainable materials principles. A bespoke pergola that stands as an inviting shade structure and visual anchor for outdoor living was one of the key features in the transformation. There was soft ambient lighting, which had been set to create a warm atmosphere for sitting up at long tables in the evening. This, coupled with working within a tight space, and the need to connect the new design to the existing architecture of the home, showed that partnering with the client was paramount to work through these challenges. The end product is a beautiful outdoor escape that met all of the clients needs, and so much more the perfect space for family and friends to gather, cater, and enjoy the ambience. This 'Understated Outdoor Makeover' is another example of tremendous craftmanship, artistry, and client happiness from the fine folks at David Font Design, and fits right into the beautiful communities where we work, covering Boca Del Mar, Fort lauderdale, and points beyond.
