Harbor Views Gloucester Brookwood Landscape and Stonework Inc. is excited to showcase the 'Harbor Views Gloucester' , a beautiful renovation of a water front property, that represents a successful blend of nature and luxury. Situated in the stunning coastal town of Gloucester, this landscape reflects Brookwood's focus on quality and craftsmanship. The was initiated with a comprehensive site analysis around understanding unique challenges of coastal conditions. During construction we had the dual issue of displacing flow/drainage while creating a landscape that could perform under conditions with salty air and sandy soil. We readily found ways to integrate native plant material. Incorporating native plants provides a visual, sustainable environment while permitting the landscape to be functional under adversarial weather and location. The centerpiece of this is a custom built stone patio utilizing materials found within the local market site. When completed, this area lends itself to plenty of usable space for seating and relaxation with a unique character, function and ambiance, all while showcasing an extraordinary view of the harbor in the distance. Surrounding the patio are plentiful perennial's and ornamental grasses that we used not purely for color and texture, but for more practically, allowing plants to survive coastal winds. In support of the patio we installed a series of custom stone retaining walls to provide stabilization and modulation to the overall quality of form. On one end of the patio, we were able to provide an area for tier planting as well as create visual lines and security features within the property while giving the landscape some depth. It was important to establish landscape lighting within the immigration plan to the property. First to expose the features of the landscape at night while allowing more ambient lighting with the possibility of evening visitors with social groups. While functional, lighting also establishes a new dimension to the space at dark when the hand built features have the chance to emerge both as a metered construction, while extending into the natural design inhabiting the surrounding landscape.
