Located in the beautiful neighborhood of Wellesley, the involved a complete redesign of the outdoor living space, highlighting a balance of aesthetics and functional landscaping. The had many diverse elements, including a stone patio made from locally-sourced bluestone that served as an attractive gathering space for family and friends. Along the edges of the patio, an artistically selected collection of native plantings were installed, featuring ornamental grasses and perennial flowers that offered beauty and support biodiversity in the local environment. One of the more difficult challenges presented to the designers was the steeper topography with a previously serious drainage issue leading to erosion on the property. Innovative landscape design provided a solution addressing both drainage and erosion. The designers installed a series of terraced garden beds using reclaimed granite boulders as natural retaining walls. This not only remedied drainage problems but also added layering of texture and depth to the gardens. The designers enhanced the ambiance of the space with ambient lighting that illuminated key design features, allowing the homeowners to appreciate their beautiful sanctuary into the evening hours. A custom-designed fire pit area was arranged with select seating, inviting one to sit and relax with family and friends when the temperature allows this outdoor space to be free from cooler weather. The final result exceeded the owner's expectations, transforming a yard, that used to be a neglectful space, into a restful retreat totally reflecting their lifestyle and desire to embrace nature. Inge Daniels Design LLC created an inviting space that supports aesthetic and functional uses with thoughtful attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship, setting a new standard for outdoor living in Wellesley Hills.
