About This Project

Chapman House Landscaping by R. Youngblood & Co. Located in the heart of Oakland County, the Chapman House is a celebration of the artistry and craftsmanship of R. Youngblood & Co. Through this comprehensive landscaping , the intent was to create an outdoor experience infused with tranquillity that was seamlessly connected to the beautiful architecture of the house. We devised solutions for a sloped site that helped stagger the gardens, improve drainage, and convey the beauty of the property. We selectively sourced local natural stone to create sophisticated retaining walls that enhanced the landscape while ensuring structural integrity. The durable, eco-friendly materials reflect our dedication to longevity and quality. Native plants were selected for each landscape to flourish in the various microclimates of the site from perennials with bold seasonal displays to ornamental grasses. Every plant was selected to pay homage to the growing season and establish a maintenance-free garden. A smart irrigation system was also added to keep the landscape hydrated while conserving water. Driveways, paths, and seating areas were created and softened with decorative gravel, enhanced by landscape lighting so the garden, yards, and house could all be enjoyed in daytime or evening. We designed a fire pit as the gathering space and incorporated comfortable furniture to encourage families to rest and enjoy the outdoor experience more freely. The outcome was a stunning landscape that met all of the original objectives established during the design process, ultimately exceeding all client expectations... the Chapman House improved curb appeal while also creating a peaceful getaway for a lifetime of enjoyment.
