About This Project

Colorful Colorado Hillside by C&H Landscaping Located in the beautiful foothills of Colorado, the 'Colorful Colorado Hillside' from C&H Landscaping transforms a steep, difficult slope into a colorful and relaxing oasis. Serving the Denver metro area and surrounding communities including Applewood, Arvada, and Highlands Ranch, we worked closely with our team to design their hillside retreat to improve the aesthetics and function. The included an array of native plants, with one criterion being that they were chosen not only for seasonal color, but for drought resistance, such as adding vibrant wildflowers, decorative grasses, and sturdy shrubs. To combat erosion and maintain a landscape stable, we designed artisan natural stone retaining walls that added a rustic charm and blended into the surrounding environment. One of the challenges included managing a steep slope and making it accessible. So we employed tiered planting beds with pathways spaced throughout the designs to create a picturesque and appealing environment that can be explored and allowed soil runoff to be avoided. Local materials such as flagstone and recovered wood were used to create seating areas, which highlighted views of the Colorado landscape. The end result is a fantastic hillside that maintains color year-round and creates a relaxing setting for the homeowners and beautiful view for the neighborhood. The clients were delighted with our work, especially with the quality of work and attention to detail we incorporated in changing their property into a colorful outdoor space.
