Madison Container Garden

The Madison Container Garden by Martinson's Garden Works The Madison Container Garden was to be an example of our quality and creativity in landscaping, and we were happy to bring it to life in Madison. Given that our parameters were to do as best we could with a small, urban space while improving the aesthetics of the homeowner's outdoor space. We began the by sitting down with the homeowners to learn their vision and what they had in mind for the outdoor space. The challenge was to be able to provide the homeowner with a colorful, useful garden, but with the limitations of space in an urban area. We chose a wide variety of high-quality, weather-resistant containers of durable ceramics and reclaimed wood to blend in with the existing architectural elements. The design involved a selection of seasonal plants that included colorful flowers, fragrant herbs and foliage designed to provide color during every season. We used a layered planting technique to build the visual interest of the garden, while at the same time creating a tapestry of colors and textures. We also added drip irrigation to help conserve water while keeping the garden adequately moist. One of the challenges for our team was dealing with uneven ground, and the limited amount of sun. To overcome this we constructed raised planters and incorporated shade tolerant varieties of plants to guarantee beautiful plants in all aspects of the garden. The end product is a beautiful container garden that will better serve the clients for relaxing or reading for pleasure. The garden had both seating and walking features to engage all visitors. The Madison Container Garden also reflects the strength and craftsmanship we strive for with our clients, and again, the homeowners were happy to enjoy the stunning, yet useful space!
