About This Project

Highlands Hackberry Located in the beautiful Boise, Idaho, Highlands Hackberry, designed and built by Chuck B Edwards Landscape Architecture & 3D The new build on this large residential site needed to elegantly consider aesthetics yet made functional, clear an existing dense area of trees and shrubs. This incorporates a mixture of native plants and ornamental grasses as well as selective tree planting to strengthen the visual, as well as local biodiversity potential. Permeable paving stones were used for both the walkways and patio areas creating an up-to-date appearance while also alleviating seasonal rains in the region with effective drainage. Adding a custom irrigation system, ensuring the water is used optimally (and sustainably) was a complex undertaking. Retaining walls made of natural stone were purposefully lined that manage the ups and downs, and provide seating space, ideal place to sit and enjoy company. The end product, a breathtaking backyard retreat that transitions from a beautiful indoor space to an outdoor sanctuary with a calming water feature. The client commented how the design was better than expected and actually raised the overall value of the home.
