Need Help Visualizing Completed by Michael Rosenberg Landscape Architecture The 'Need Help Visualizing' is an example of the artistry and craftsmanship for which Michael Rosenberg Landscape Architecture is known in the Bay Area, located in beautiful Santa Cruz, California. This large-scale landscape renovation was designed for the to seamlessly integrate with the natural environments, and to fulfill the client's wish for an inviting outdoor space. The involved multiple layers of landscaping types, including an abundance of native plantings, expansive stone walks, and a peaceful trickling water element, which provided soothing sounds. The design was eco-friendly using drought-tolerant plants and sustainable materials, which heightened the visual interest while lowering water usage. The biggest challenge this faced was a sloped property where the team documented very interesting native plants. This led to problems as the client wanted to have level areas for gatherings as well as keeping some of the natural space. The team tackled the challenge of terrace height with boulders from the nature area, creating a double texture of structure and plantings. A custom, reclaimed wood pergola also provided an inviting outdoor, casual dining space to relax and enjoy with family. In the end, the final space created an amazing outdoor experience that flowed from the home to the garden with colorful flowers beds, a relaxing zen garden, and small cozy spaces found in the plantings. The configuration of the space created great use and versatility use for the entire year. The final phase delivered above the the clients expectations offering a personal retreat surrounding all the spaces designed to relive and engage with friends and family.
