Lake Front Transformation

Lake Front Transformation by Sherwood Landscape Lighting and Design Sherwood Landscape Lighting and Design recently completed the 'Lake Front Transformation' in the beautiful Medford Lakes community. Western's management team partnered with this client to transform their utilitarian lakeside floor plan into a stunning outdoor living space that combined nature and design. The began with a thorough site analysis to uncover existing issues such as erosion at the water's edge and limitations to accessibility for outdoor entertaining and leisure. Our team developed a multi-tiered strategy that involved building a natural stone retaining wall with locally-sourced granite that could stand the test of time and were compatible with the tastes of the owner and the location itself. In addition to controlling erosion, the natural stone retaining wall was a beautiful backdrop for the new landscape. We introduced an assortment of native plant species that were chosen specifically for durability and overall seasonal beauty to increase biodiversity and attract regional wildlife. Caring for the new landscape began with multi-layered seasonal color and texture based on the ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs we introduced. An irrigation plan using a drip system was put into place to promote conservation and efficiency while supplying hydration for the overall landscape aesthetic. A custom wood deck acted as the centerpiece to the site, complete with built-in seating, complimentary materials, and built-in ambient lights for usability and aesthetics when the sun began to set. This area became the bridge between the residential house and water's edge - a gathering place for family and an escape for quiet contemplation. The outdoor landscape lighting was placed to enhance the plants and create atmosphere after the sun had set and guests could no longer focus on the pristine lake views. The client loved the finished product - practical beauty for outdoor entertaining and relaxing alone.
