An Old Beauty

An Old Beauty Jacobs Grant Design Ltd. is excited to present "An Old Beauty," a fabulous landscaping that harmonizes the charm of a historic estate with a modern feel. Located in Westerville, this was a labor of love that truly reflects our ideals of quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The scope of the involved an intricate garden that absolutely had seen better days. Our team began with an assessment of the existing landscape which had a variety of mature trees and an overage of shrubbery. The primary challenge was to hold back the property's essence while introducing new elements for revitalization. To alleviate this problem, we used a palette of native plant selections with a mix of bright perennial plants and ornamental grasses along with lush ferns to build year-round interest. The use of natural stones for pathways and retaining walls gave structural integrity while creating an attractive and harmonious experience to traverse from space to space. Each of the stones used were hand-picked for texture and color, making sure to be true to the historic prominence of the estate. The outdoor living area re-design of this is a remarkable proposition that entails a patio designed with natural stone and flowering plants entwined to create an inviting ambiance for fun gathering times with family and friends, as well as soliloquy time with the aromatic flowers. The materials used were taken from the source of suitable reclaimed product built to be reciprocity to the estate's heritage and durability. Our design team transgressed any and every challenge presented throughout the processincluding the challenges of regrading to improve drainage and minimize erosion. Change is inevitable and although undesirable, our rain garden accounting for the aforementioned issues improved functional biodiversity as a feature to the estate. The end result is outstanding! "An Old Beauty" reflects the best of designers and builders work to provide the desired outcome while fortuitously remaining complementing to the fortitude of the estate's past with a refined outdoor living space.
