The client had imagined a simple garden place that would feel serene and beautiful, but would be easy to maintain. Our team started the evaluation factor by getting to know the site and reviewing the site features. The topography, color, and sunlight were all considered in our planning. To create a beautiful serene space, we selected a combination of Ohio native plants for sustainability, and the safest experience of resilience to plant in an always changing climate. The design also has a placement of ornamental grasses, color, and care bloom plants and shrubs provide beauty and interest every day of every season. We were able to install an inviting stone path for visitors to follow through a more densely planted area of the garden. The custom stone path allowed us to use Ohio sourced limestone that we dubbed as “locally sourced,” and fulfilled the accessibility requirement of the practical service of a path, and beauty. We included a water feature that creates a horizontal line of shear water and a cascading fountain in one planted area and this offered a place where visual and audible experience was true ambiance for the garden. Draining issues of the site were challenging due to the distance of the wooded property, as were soil conditions. Yet, as we navigated through water flow being heavier we worked through innovative ways as integrating a rain garden for absorption and good grading. Overall, the finished Simple Beauty is truly a stunning garden experience of the client’s original idea. The clients reported their happiness with the total transformation, the peace it offers to return a yard back to nature, a space of nature meets elegance.
