Located in Buena Park, this , dubbed the 'Felix Residence', is a great representation of Grounded's work in landscaping. For this , we imagined a colorful exterior oasis that flowed with the architecture of the house. Note: We started this conversation by recognizing the difficulty of the site, its rocky, shaded and somewhat harsh conditions. With trained landscape architects working with them, they constructed a tiered garden that brought aesthetic appeal and easier accessibility. The stone patio at Felix Residence is an indoor-outdoor living space that has been constructed with locally sourced flagstone. This patio gives you a nice durable and chic space outdoors for gatherings. To enclose the patio, we planted a variety of native plants from drought-tolerant succulents to bird-attracting perennials, to minimize maintenance but draw in the wildlife. We achieved this by using an offering of tall ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs to build a green wall, drawing in a sense of calm and privacy that simply envelops the space. We also installed a water feature we built that helps alleviate the sound of the cicadas and doubles as a great place to relax after a long work week. We struggled with modern irrigation systems, needing to adapt them to use less water without endangering the variety of plant life. We kept the Felix Residence green and sustainable by using smart irrigation to mitigate water consumption. Ultimately, the Felix Residence resulted in a beautiful outdoor escape, and more importantly, a happy client. They now have a welcoming space to entertain, garden and relax in nature. Avenue 39 Landscape Design loves taking this house and creating a landscape that reflects the clients and makes their home even more valuable.
