Located in Palo Alto, the embodies our passion and desire for quality, elegance, innovative design, and unsurpassed service to the rich Bay Area community. The design of 'Palo Alto 2 (the )' focuses predominantly on custom user functionality with its well-designed multi-tiered garden that flows seamlessly from the interior livability to the vibrancy exterior environment. The design is supported by a variety of native plants that promote biodiversity while maximizing low maintenance. Exciting site features include a gorgeous dry creek bed designed to control and channel stormwater while adding visual interest, and a fire pit anchored by custom seating that nearly allows for entertainment or fun evenings next to the fire. One of the primary design challenges we faced regarding 'Palo Alto 2' was the hilly development site. Instead of shying away from the challenge of varying grade elevation across the site, we embraced it in creating a more engaging landscape by using natural stone to define tiered retaining walls. The use of retaining walls provides adequate structural articulation and rustic appeal to the new existing architectural features. Local quarried stone was selected to balance the need for sustainable material usage and regional context. As the unfolded, we also realized the need for a sophisticated irrigation system to support water efficiency, sustainable living of the lush landscapes, and plant material health. As a result, the finished product is a soothing oasis that greatly satisfies the client and provides the perfect balance of tranquility and elegance while contributing to property value and curb appeal.
