Then & Now Randy Tuehme Design Inc. - Landscape Architecture is pleased to share 'Then & Now', an innovative that seamlessly connects our history with today's outdoor design. Set in the beautiful landscape of the Bay Area, this demonstrates our commitment to creativity and quality and serves clients from Alameda, San Francisco, Mill Valley, and beyond. The began with a comprehensive content analysis of the existing site, which offered landscaping that had not been adapted to capture the scenic beauty of the area. The team faced the dual challenge of preserving historical features while adhering to contemporary design principles. We chose a palette of native plants that include resilient and sustainable, drought-tolerant species that are suited for California. Key features of 'Then & Now' include a stunning winding path out of locally sourced stone that leads visitors through lush gardens designed for their calming effect, a classic water feature that acts as a focal point and adds an auditory experience to the space, and comfortable gathering areas in the form of custom-built seating constructed from reclaimed wood. Lighting placed at strategic spots opens the landscape after sunset in to a magical space. The generated challenges in the form of plan variations on a hill site and existing site infrastructure that required creative solutions and detailed planning. The team made significant efforts to ease the transition of the dated design to the new one while honoring the legacy of 'Then & Now'. The embodies the balance between the clients' desire of keeping many of the home's historical features along with the balance of modern landscaping aesthetics, where the yard offers an entirely new experience all while enhancing its functionality. 'Then & Now' helps exemplify Randy Thume Design's commitment to excellence and passion for creating meaningful landscapes that impact clients, neighborhoods, and the environment.
