Oceanfront Small Courtyard by Wild Works of Whimsy, LLC Located along the beautiful coast of Virginia Beach, the 'Oceanfront Small Courtyard' by Wild Works of Whimsy, LLC is an example of coastal elegance and functional outdoor living. The courtyard was created to serve as a relaxing escape, carefully integrating the natural beauty around it, including landscaping elements. For the , we provided a thoughtful selection of native plants, including beach grass, lavender, and rosemary. These selections were chosen based on their native habitat, pollinator attraction, and ability to thrive in a coastal climate. To keep the garden sustainable with very little ongoing maintenance, we installed a drip irrigation system underneath a decorative gravel that adds a contemporary focal point. The sandy soil was a critical factor taken into consideration during the , which can become unstable. To help support the plants, our expert landscape architects added organic compost to the soil and installed erosion control fabric to avoid shifting. The pathways were made of sandstone sourced locally, providing a firm surface and aesthetically pleasing value while getting around the courtyard. The design’s star ingredient was a stunning fire pit encompassed by custom seating made from reclaimed wood for a comfortable gathering place for family and friends. Ambient lights provide a soft glow when at dusk, transforming the courtyard into a magical place. Upon completion of the , the clients were overjoyed with a serene escape that embodied images of the ocean while being a functional outdoor space for relaxing and having fun.
