Summary: Rancho Pacifica Torrey Pines Landscape Co., Inc. completed the Rancho Pacifica , a that incorporates elegance with functionality in landscaping. The client resided in the enclave of Rancho Santa Fe, and desired a that would not only integrate an element of nature, but also provide a retreat for the family. The scope involved transforming a rocky area into a lush landscape using native plants and materials that were appropriate to the environment and climate of San Diego. In consideration of the drought, we selected plants such as California poppy, lavender, and succulents as they would require the least amount of water. We utilized decomposed granite materials for the pathways to create a beautiful, environmentally friendly landscape, engineered to hold up to foot traffic. A unique element of the was a stone fire pit with surrounding seating areas made of reclaimed wood and natural stone. The intended purpose was to create a relaxing gathering spot that incorporated a stunning element into the landscape, with function and style. To set the mood of the landscape in the home’s exterior, we incorporated an ambient lighting system highlighting the greenery around the area. Quality was always a focus when selecting the materials to enhance the exterior of the home. The materials selected were always complementary to the architecture of the home, and above all, durable. In particular are the paths made of decomposed granite; the same materials saw use most recently in landscaping a well-known urban park. All in all, the landscape exceeded expectations, not only for what the clients had on their wishlist, but collectively for the home and property itself, integrating the spaces into a beautiful, relaxing, private retreat for family gatherings.
