La Jolla Backyard With A View The La Jolla Backyard With A View is a remarkable example of an amazing outdoor living completed by Torrey Pines Landscape Co., Inc. Based in scenic La Jolla, California, the landscape design was created to highlight the views of the coast, while providing usable outdoor space. The designers built a multi-level deck with ethically sourced teak wood for a comfortable space to hang out and entertain. Natural stone path systems were brought in to blend into the design while being able to endure the environments. They brought in a custom-built infinity-edge pool to enhance the aesthetic and serve as a refreshing escape while enjoying the view of the ocean. Another difficult getting into the site was the steep slope. A series of retaining walls made of locally quarried stone were designed into the to allow for transitions in elevation. These stabilizing features allow for segments in the landscape, from planting topsoil to lounges for seating. The vegetative palette was intentionally drought resitant native species to create low-maintenance areas while adding biodiversity and habitats for local wildlife. The California lilac produced bright blooms while aromatic herbs provided sensory experiences for the client year round. The spirituality of nature is present in all aspects of the design and construction, and it serves as a contributing value to the property while still being a personal space for enjoyment. The client was thrilled with the outcome and said it is their favorite go-to spot to enjoy a comfy place with a view.
