Cantilevered Modern Residence by Szafranski Landscape Architecture Located in the thriving city of Tulsa, the 'Cantilevered Modern Residence' is a demonstration of Szafranski Landscape Architecture's design innovation and craftmanship in the field. This transformed a sloped lot into a beautiful outdoor oasis that seamlessly connects with the home’s fabulous architecture. It has a cantilevering series of terraces that extend out from the home, allowing its outdoor living spaces to maximize views of the property. In the efforts of fulfilling the client’s desire to make the outdoor aesthetics eco-friendly, Szafranski Landscape Architecture's team used locally sourced materials, which included natural stone and sustainably harvested hardwoods to embrace the modern style. Some logistics of the were challenged as a result of the steep topography; a lot of coordinating was required to ensure stability of the multi-level gardens. Meanwhile, Szafranski Landscape Architecture’s landscape architects had remarkable ideas retaining walls that use a weathered limestone meet both structural requirements and improve the organic feel of the landscape. This idea provided stability to the landscape elements while highlighting tiering of the planting beds showcasing a diversity of native plants that thrive in Oklahoma. From the client’s perspective, introducing water features was a priority supporting the vision around their outdoor space as creating a tranquil environment. Szafranski Landscape Architecture crafted a modern pond with a waterfall feature that acts as a design focal point, which also brings in local wildlife. Furthermore, an aesthetically pleasing custom lighting design enhanced the architecture while creating experience appealing during evening hours. Overall, the outcome exceeded both the client expectations and Szafranski Landscape Architecture’s team’s visually stunning outdoor space providing functional being and the additional space whether for entertainment of leisure.
