About This Project

Recap: Crab Orchard Szafranski Landscape Architecture is pleased to announce the 'Crab Orchard' , a unique remodel that completely redefined outdoor living in Bixby, Oklahoma. This complete site landscape remodel was designed to blend with and take on the beauty of its surroundings while subtley offering an escape for the homeowners. There were many native plants specially selected for the location to ensure they are climatized for Oklahoma while also providing sustainability and low maintenance. A major design focus was a custom designed and built stone fire pit with built in seating made of reclaimed wood. A pleasantly inviting way for family and friends to hang out on an evening or weekend. Permeating the site were site interpreted pathways & steps outfitted with local river rock and lush plantings that invited visitors to explore. Working with the existing topography presented one of the biggest hurdles for us during the design and permitting process of the site. Our team was able to creatively cut and grade the site to facilitate step downs between different levels. This allowed us to create tiered garden beds improving site health and drainage while also looking aesthetically pleasing. The overall outcome of 'Crab Orchard' turned out to be a space that exceeded the clients expectations. The end result is finally a vibrant, usable, inviting outdoor space that serves its functional purpose while marrying the beauty of nature. We are elated the serves as a sense of place and community for family and friends. Szafranski Landscape Architecture was truly privileged to be apart of a vision that is of utmost understanding to outdoor experience in Bixby & surrounding communities of Broken Arrow, Jenks and Tulsa.
