w2012 ALE: Backyard Stream Garden Completed by the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association, the 'w2012 ALE: Backyard Stream Garden' is an example of art that can turn simple outdoor spaces into functional works of art. Set in Pennsylvania, this turns a park normal backyard into an oasis that brings together nature and the built-world. This transformation is centered around a stream running through the area, and the stream was carefully created with stones and boulders from the nearby area to match with its surrounding environment. Water flows softly, producing a sound that calms the senses, which can relax the garden atmosphere. Native aquatic flora were planted along the banks to create natural habitat for local wildlife with low maintenance and high sustainability. The work experienced hurdles, not least of all the slope upon which the site was built and the drainage issues. The team used creative grading to form a gentle slope which both improved the flow of water and permitted the establishment of stepped planting beds. Not only did this design address drainage issues, but it also produced depth and dimension. The install was all quality from the outset. From natural stone in the stream bed to sustainable mulch to suppress weeds and improve soil quality, we used top-quality materials. Everything has been carefully deliberated for durability and appearance creating a landscape that will last for decades. The end result is a stunning Backyard Stream Garden that the client and her family love. This has turned their house into a home by encouraging them to get outside listen to the sound of running water & present a wonderful space for relaxation and entertaining family and friends, with beautiful paths and careful selections of plants that are relevant to the surrounding space. The ultimate apex of this high-end landscape, designed and built by Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association, creates a standard which has not been attained locally.
