Contemporary Woodland, Boston Area Located in the beautiful Boston Area, the "Contemporary Woodland" by Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio (JMMDS) demonstrates a stunning integration of nature and modern design. Serving the towns of Alstead, Bellows Falls, Charlestown, Chester, Grafton, Langdon, North Walpole, North Westminster, Putney, Rockingham, Saxtons River, Springfield, Townshend, Walpole, West Townshend, Westminster, and Westminster Station, JMMDS designed a magical retreat that both delights and inspires. The features a great selection of native plants, including ferns, flowering shrubs, and a variety of full-size trees, that look inviting and provide habitat for local wildlife. A series of stone paths through the woodland ensures visitors will delight in discovery while following the contours of the site. JMMDS was also able to make use of sustainable materials such as reclaimed wood for seating areas and permeable pavers for driveways to minimize impact on the environment. One of the primary site challenges was the variety of topography, which included steep slopes and rocky outcrops. The design team, brilliantly, sent a series of terracing walls and retaining walls that both elevated the aesthetics and usability and ensured proper drainage and soil stability. The is a beautiful contemporary woodland that enhanced the natural beauty of the property while offering a lovely place to relax and savor the experience of nature. The clients were very pleased with their new woodland, saying it articulated everything they had imagined in a peaceful, contemporary woodland retreat. JMMDS's familiarity with quality fabrication methods and innovative landscaping has breathed life into this woodland, providing a special place for years to come.
