- Metal Retaining Wall by Plantswoman Design Plantswoman Design completes their 'Metal Retaining Wall' in beautiful Bainbridge Island. The company serves many communities in Bremerton, Poulsbo, Rollingbay, Seattle, Silverdale, Southworth and Kingston. Quality and creativity are reflected in all of Plantswoman Design's designs. The was initiated because a sloped property suffered from large amounts of erosion while simultaneously needing to provide more appeal to the site's outdoor space. Plantswoman Design chose high quality corten steel to be used for the retaining wall due to the indestructibility of the material, which will rust and turn into a darker brown, aesthetically blending with the site. The wall provides physical security for the landscape while adding modernity to the space. The designer faced challenges while accomplishing the Living Wall due to the irregular terrain of the site and constructing wall engineering for safety and sustainability of the wall. In response to the challenge, Plantswoman Design's landscapes certified horticulturists built a drainage system that would ensure for water runoff behind the wall for maximal erosion concerns. The drainage system played an important part in keeping the existing plants unharmed during construction. Along with the metal retaining wall Plantswoman Design installed a breadth of native plants and ornamental grasses from the Pacific Northwest to create a strong connection/relationship with the hardscape and softscape. Inherent in their design is consideration of the space and ecosystem and Plantswoman Design evokes this situation by intentionally positioning the plants tom use the full dynamic of height for aesthetic appeal and wildlife biodiversity in this area. The clients of the were ecstatic with the outcome of an elegant but functional habitat wall that contained aspects of their existing landscape. In the end Plantswoman Design created a beautiful naturally functioning wall from this . The wall was not only constructed and integrated seamlessly into their landscape, it complied with the appeal of the home and was sustainable for outdoor use. Overall they accomplished all concerns of their customer which turned their landscape into a beautiful oasis of form and function.
