About This Project

The Preston Hollow Melshire Makeover transformed a back living room into a vibrant and inviting space that beautifully complements the adjacent kitchen. Our clients, who possess an eclectic taste that inspires creativity, sought to enhance their den, which was previously plagued by temperature fluctuations and a lack of aesthetic appeal. To address these issues, we embarked on an extensive renovation that included replacing the existing back patio double door and adjacent windows with an expansive wall of energy-efficient windows. This not only improved the thermal performance of the room but also allowed for an abundance of natural light, creating a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoor environments. Proper insulation was a key focus of the project, ensuring that the living space remained comfortable year-round. We meticulously added insulation within the walls and repaired the ceiling, addressing the recurring cracks that had marred the room’s appearance. Our skilled craftsmen ensured that the ceiling repairs were done to the highest standards, preventing future issues while maintaining the architectural integrity of the home. In addition to the major structural changes, we installed a new sliding door on the driveway side, mirroring the existing sliding door to create a balanced and harmonious aesthetic. The addition of three large 7' x 6' windows along the back wall further enhanced the visual appeal, allowing homeowners to enjoy picturesque views of their backyard while relaxing indoors. The design features included striking wood beams that contrasted beautifully with the soothing Benjamin Moore Mt. Rainier Gray paint, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. To complete the transformation, our clients selected an eye-catching Thomas O'Brien 'Ziyi' lighting fixture, which hangs gracefully above the kitchen table, adding a unique and eclectic touch to this stunning space.
