One Edgy Sauna by Holmes Fine Gardens Located on the property of an older woody area on the outskirts of Newtown, 'One Edgy Sauna' is a by Holmes Fine Gardens that incorporates ideas relaxation, aesthetics in the outdoor environment. The One Edgy Sauna brings together landscape and architecture in a reconceptualizes a homeowner's approach to relaxation, comforts, connection with nature, and aesthetics in their own yard. The sauna is built using beautifully sourced sustainably harvested cedar. The sauna working as both the center of garden a visually interesting feature in the outdoors. In conjunction with the sauna and cedar, a dynamic and diverse landscape plan that integrates native plant species has been created. Plants that have the ability to live in the local climate such as native perennial or ornamental grasses were integrated into design allow life on in the landscape, give it elevated appeal year-round and maximize visual aspects of the area for the homeowner. In addition to the sauna, a bluestone walkway of local stone material to help sustain the sauna life out, seemed like a perfect natural evolving material that could weather sitting into it without and still feel like a beautiful natural aspect of the area. The bluestone walkway leads through the garden and showcases a choreographed sequential view year round low-maintenance shrubs and perennial blooms throughout all four seasons. A major challenge in this was the site's slope and drainage implications of how to manage water and prevent runoff's negative impact erosion- and ultimately work and plan around this environmental challenge. To manage drainage and further displace any standing water away from the sauna area, we were able to design drainage ways and add neighbouring retaining wall and we selective naturally sourced stone from the site in a similar texture as the sauna for sustainable aesthetic to maintain coherence into the grasp of natural existing land. In the end, this became a remarkable place to go and enjoy outdoor space - a memorable ambiance and experience the highlight of the sauna within the garden. The homeowner expressed great enthusiasm over the change. Loved the ease of the sauna integration into the larger landscape experience and the rich vivid naturalness that was created around it. Holmes Fine Gardens continues to create unique spaces filled with artistry, harmonizing through nature the function outdoor lives/experiences through a new place and experience of the outdoors. 'One Edgy Sauna' created a distinctive function that merges art and outdoor living or making a art statement outdoors.
