Native Meadow by Holmes Fine Gardens Holmes Fine Gardens is proud to present the ‘Native Meadow’ , a beautiful transformation that embraces the aesthetic and ecological value of native plants. In serving the communities of Bethel, Bridgeport, and beyond, we started with the goal of creating a vibrant and low-maintenance landscape that related to the local setting. The began with a comprehensive site assessment, which allowed our team the opportunity to outline the best growing conditions for a variety of native plant species. We carefully curated a palette of perennials, grasses, and wildflowers in the plan so that every plant had a suitable growing environment. We modified the soil with locally-sourced soil amendments and installed natural mulch to improve soil quality, all in the goal of having a robust and healthy landscape. A primary challenge that we faced during the was existing invasive species that could potentially choke out the native plants. Our trained team handled this with thoughtful removal processes and a resiliency and biodiversity-focused planting plan. We carefully pulled pathways of rustic stone through the space to allow our clients and visitors to move through the meadow. At the end of the process, we all were rewarded with a wonderful display of color and texture allowing an abundance of pollinators and wildlife to enjoy the new space, delighting our clients. The ‘Native Meadow’ serves as a lovely backdrop for outdoor gatherings, but also educates and encourages environmental awareness and conservation. Holmes Fine Gardens is happy to have created a functional space and solace to the client while depicting our environmental focus and quality work. The ‘Native Meadow’ showcases our value of enhancing the natural landscape while creating welcoming outdoor spaces for the communities we serve.
