Olathe Backyard Pool Olathe Backyard Pool by MALA LLC Michael Ashley Landscape Architecture A backyard is a landscape and outdoor living that transcends the norm, in which comfort and joy combine well. Hidden deep within Olathe, this blends beautiful landscaping with a pool to create a space where you can get away and enjoy the water. The pool itself is a uniquely designed, free-form natural stone pool that blends in with the landscape, using materials that are readily available in the surroundings which ensure the sustainability and longevity of the pool design. We used a mix of ornamental grasses and flowering perennials, mostly natives too, that bloom at different times for year-round interest and well-adapted to the local climate. The lie of the land, its natural slope, was one of the major issues to be overcome during the . We embraced this challenge clevering converting it into an opportunity by designing multi-tiered terraces that help for both efficient drainage as well as creating spaces for lounging and mingling. Structure & Visual Appeal: The graceful transition from the pool edge to the landscaped surrounds are beautifully softened with the use of textured stone retaining walls. An impressive flagstone deck is perfect for outdoor furnishings, and built-in seating nooks beckon family and friends to congregate! We added ambient lighting to shine light on the pathways and accent the architectural features at night so that this backyard glows just as well in the evening as it does all day long. The design resulting mesh_features the aesthetic with functionality and provides the client this stunning retreat within their backyard.
