|BACKYARD MALA LLC Michael Ashley, Principal, MALA LLC Urban Design at MALA LLC we are proud to offer solutions to create retreats inside urban environments. Backyard, our latest , is a demonstration of our dedication to the highest standards in landscape architecture. Nestled in a neighborhood center environment in the Kansas City metropolitan area, this exemplifies how functional the outdoors can be while remaining visually pleasing for a family in search of a space that will be inviting for family, friends and neighbors alike. The had its challenges right from the beginning with uneven land and places with less sun. Employing sophisticated grading methods, our team was able to create aesthetically pleasing topographic layers within the landscape itself. We specifically chose plants that can overcome dry spells so that the garden remains green with little work. One of the highlights of the 'Backyard' is the beautiful stone patio with locally sourced flagstone, which creates a cozy and welcoming area for entertaining. A custom fire pit with seating makes for a cozy focal point to gather around in the evenings. We incorporated a lovely water feature that adds calmness and additionally assists in attracting local wildlife, which enhances the biodiversity of the region. For longer lasting but also visual continuity, we chose quality materials for most of the landscape; composite decking, decorative gravel, wrought iron fence. All the items are carefully donned to present an undistorted design texture faithful to the ambition of the homeowners. The end result: an amazing outdoor oasis that our clients are beyond thrilled with and are able to utilize, 12 months of the year! It's now a space that represents how they live, ideal for family time, lounging and outdoor entertaining. Every work is a chance to make something beautiful for the long run, and 'Backyard' is a perfect example of our love for landscape architecture at MALA LLC.
