About This Project

Stepping Stones At Land Art Design, Inc., we enjoy creating outdoor living spaces that are beautiful and represent the style or personality of our clients. Our latest , "Stepping Stones," is one opportunity we had to provide this in central Alexandria. This beautiful design showcases constructed stepping stones that influence a landscape through a lush garden, with functional and aesthetic purposes. We used beautiful quality natural stone (from local quarries) to construct a pathway that naturally blended into the surroundings. Some challenges we overcame were the rugged conditions of the site, and pre-existing root systems below the finished surface. Therefore, we exercised innovation and clue to help facilitate a design that would remain stable and last over time. The team worked hard in excavation and leveling, along with undertaking placement ensuring that every stone placed in the pathway helped provide an inviting, relaxing experience, while at the same time inviting family and friends in from the nearby parking. We also enhanced the surface and edge of the pathway with unique, seasonal plantings like native perennials, and ornamental grasses, that provide year-round interest. This way, the hardscaping and softscaping begin to blend into a single entity that enhance the beauty of the property, while also promoting local biodiversity. The final outcome delighted our clients, and helped transform their once under-utilized outdoor living space. When completed, the pathway became a tranquil get-away directing family and friends to explore the garden, the flowers, shrubs, and sittings, while enjoying this amazing property and beautiful views.
