About This Project

Desert Highlands II; Client: Merit Landworks Located in the picturesque scenery of Arizona, Desert Highlands II is a transformative exterior that creates a delicate balance of outdoor elements with the surroundings viewed in a breathtaking way. This was completed by Merit Landworks and demonstrates our landscaping work capabilities the some of the beautiful communities of Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Carefree and Sedona. The has a complex design that incorporates xeriscape concepts by using native, drought-tolerant plants, such as agave, yucca, and desert marigolds that flourish in the dry climate and offer colors throughout the year. To balance the plant material, we used local flagstone pathways and boulders to create a harmonious blend of hardscape and landscape that highlights the natural beauty of the site. Our biggest challenge was the location of steep land we bought. We incorporated tiered garden beds for functionality and visual interest and built a beautiful wooden display box for herbs. Almost all of the gardening was done via some form of drip irrigation if possible which reflected our commitment to sustainability by saving water and ensuring each plant gets just the right amount of water it needs. The result is an outdoor oasis that has the clients over the moon, with plenty of seating including custom-fitted benches and fire pits for entertaining in the gorgeous Arizona sunsets. Merit Landworks has successfully turned an ordinary lot into an oasis that fits right in place with its harsh desert surroundings, a testimony to both the high-quality building experience and creative design work all possible from Merit Landworks in the Desert Highlands II .
