About This Project

Nuckols Yard The Nuckols Yard , completed by Michaelangelo's Sustainable Landscape & Design, demonstrates our passion for changing outdoor spaces into sustainable and beautiful environments. Located in the heart of Roswell, this entails the complete redesign of a homeowner's yard, which had not been used to its full potential. The vision for Nuckols Yard was to create a welcoming retreat that would work in harmony with surrounding elements while doing double duty, serving both the family and the ecosystem. We layered a multi-dimensional landscape with an impressive number of native plants which thrive in local conditions, while supporting the local wildlife. Drought-tolerant perennials, ornamental grasses, and a colorful variety of flowering shrubs were selected with coastal and seasonal interest in mind. The existing site posed the challenge of having a sizable slope. Our response was to create terraced garden beds, which accentuated the depth and dimension of the yard while developing natural drainage. To connect guests (and family!) in and around the landscape, we installed a pathway made of locally-sourced flagstone. To make the outdoor environment more enjoyable, we added a fire pit oasis surrounded by natural boulders- an ideal location for family gatherings under the stars. We also added a rain garden for stormwater management to further contribute to sustainable heritage. Ultimately, we created a spectacular landscape for the Nuckols family that evokes their beliefs, vision and lifestyle. The end result was more than the client's imagination; the vibrant blooms and lush greenery exceeded the homeowner's vision beyond their expectations. Michaelangelo's Sustainable Landscape & Design was proud to bring this client's vision to life and beautify the neighborhood!
